The Governor of the State of Pennsylvania is the head of the executive branch of Pennsylvania's state government and is the commander-in-chief of the state's military forces such as the Pennsylvania National Guard. The Governor of Pennsylvania is responsible for enforcing state laws and has the power to approve or veto bills passed by the Pennsylvania Legislature which is comprised of the Pennsylvania House and Senate. The governor may also grant pardons but only when recommended by the Board of Pardons with the exception of impeachment.
