The Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor presides in the Senate and is first in the line of succession to the governor. The Lieutenant Governor would become governor of the state of Pennsylvania if the governor dies, resigns, or otherwise leaves office.  The Lieutenant Governor is popularly elected every four years and is limited to two consecutive terms.
