The Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority is a 11-member Board whom six are appointed by the Governor of Pennsylvania and four are appointed by the Senate and House leadership of Pennsylvania. The eleventh member is a doctor who is appointed by the Governor as Board Chair. The Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority is responsible reducing and eliminating medical errors by identifying problems and recommending solutions that promote patient safety in hospitals, ambulatory surgical facilities, and birthing centers in the state of Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority evaluates reports and makes recommendations for changes in health care practices and or procedures which may be used to reduce the number and severity of medical issues in the state.
