The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is responsible for maintaining and preserving Pennsylvania's 117 state parks and 20 state forests. The DCNR provides information on PA's natural resources and works with communities to benefit local recreation and natural areas.

DCNR Rangers responsibilities include checking in on cabins and campsites, offer help to visitors questions, and maintain a sense of safety and calmness throughout the parks. The DCNR officers have full arrest powers while in park lands and do carry firearms. The DCNR rangers only have arrest powers in the State Parks and State Forest in which they have jurisdiction. They enforce game laws as well as fishing and boating laws in state parks, and work in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
